FYAD has a fairly lengthy history, going back to 2007 or so. We were originally named Unchained Potential (there was actually a few names before this, but they don’t warrant repeating due to how awful they were) and began our rather unimpressive Eve careers in a small, active highsec industrial hub called Akonoinen. It began as just myself (Maulth/Shoot2kili), Medic, Hazard117, and a few others. We started out with lowsec piracy, and eventually I branched off and began doing industry. As I became more proficient, I realized the necessity for more people to make our operations a little more large scale. As Medic and myself had already been in several corporations, we felt that it was better to go against the grain in what we had seen. We wanted quality people instead of high numbers. Filling a fleet means nothing if you dislike half the people in it. So we began to recruit. We took everyone who had a good attitude and was willing to work towards things as a group. Most corporations required a skill point minimum, or vouches, or a set amount of time to play. We took everyone. Trials, newbies, veterans; everyone. Over the next few months people joined who would become life-long friends. Decafon, Mr Jomaxant, Creatnos, WhiteyUSMC, Strykermatt, Strykerzan, Khaine Takai, Piranhas, Rhalar, and so many more. For quite a while we were content, and had fun exploring the seemingly endless possibilities of the game.


Eventually, however, our core grew beyond what we felt high-sec could offer us. So we struck out to find groups of like-minded individuals in which we could achieve our goals. We joined several alliances that have since faded into obscurity. Syndicate of Independent Nations, Aeon Sequence and eventually Hand That Feeds became homes to us. We left each in turn due to problems in management, alliance decay, or change in focus and direction. We knew what we wanted, but were unsure how to achieve it. Eventually, Hand That Feeds merged with another alliance named Excessum Gaming. After a brief tussle with the new leadership, FYAD split and took over Hand That Feeds instead. We used the alliance to go to Delve, of all places. You see, IT alliance had just lost all of their sov in Delve, and had been revealed to be a paper tiger. So, we began hitting their sov and taking systems and stations. Unfortunately, our little coalition (Hand That Feeds, Ultra-Violence, Chaos Theory, and BRUCE (not proud of that one)) attracted the attention of a now content hungry Pandemic Legion. After a few months of essentially gaining no ground against the vastly superior Pandemic Legion combat prowess, we were offered a home in TEST Alliance Please Ignore. We took all of HTF and merged them into our corporation (Named, at the time, as Unchained Potential). At the behest of Montolio, we joined a new project of his: TEST Friends Please Ignore. An alliance similar to an academy alliance, where quality corporations were able to graduate into TEST proper. After some initial choppy waters, we were welcomed into DAWWW with open arms. After a month or two we graduated into TEST proper, and thus began the transition of our values, unfortunately. We began to take intelligence more seriously, API’s, spies, space-jobs. Eve took on a whole new, and seemingly exciting, meaning. After almost a year, we realized our model was unsustainable. The drama, work, and constant nagging just didn’t have a place with us. So we took Unchained Potential back to high-sec to die, intending to join another corporation instead of running our own. As a group, we joined The Milkmen, the corporation of good friends of Maulth, Bottle ofMilk, and Viktor Villiance. Having every intention of just playing the game and not taking anything too seriously, FYAD grew. As it did, Bottle had some fairly serious health problems flair up. Maulth was made a military director, and found a good friend in Daquaris. Daquaris was one of the leads on TIA (TEST Intelligence Agency) underneath of Administrator of Dreddit. It was during this time Maulth learned his love of spying, and learned a good deal about it from Daquaris. Eventually, Bottle had to leave Eve on a permanent basis, entrusting the corporation to Viktor Villiance. Viktor, who had absolutely no intention of leading the corporation, asked Maulth if he would be interested in running it. Knowing that the alternative was closing up shop, Maulth took over as CEO in 2012 and has been saddled with it since. During the time up until Bottles resignation, a great many good people joined FYAD. Jiraid Chu, Baine Reynolds, and many more have ironically been in FYAD the corporation prior to Maulth coming to be there.


During the next two years, FYAD spent almost all of its time in TEST, picking up great members along the way. Elohsa, Weekoldtaco, Mack Yacken, and many great members joined during the period of 2012-2013. Daquaris became the official TIA director with JetTiger,  Dave Holewka, and Maulth as sub-directors. Dave was also a Skirmish Commander, and Maulth was one of the Diplos assigned to the CFC. During this time BoodaBooda took over the reins of leadership from Montolio, subsequently dismantling the Honey Badger Coalition. Viktor Villiance wound up as 2iC of TEST, while Maulth took over as TIA director. During this time FYAD had a very high burnout rate, losing JetTiger, Dave, and Daquaris to IRL stuff because the game became very stagnant and jobbish. Eventually TEST lost it’s space during the Fountain war, due in part to Sort Dragons betrayal, and the remaining leadership in FYAD burned out. The corp staggered on for a little while, bleeding a few members along the way. but eventually went into stasis. Maulth eventually resigned from TIA, deciding instead to remove FYAD from TEST for an attempt to find something that would drive his passion back into the game again.


FYAD left TEST on good terms and formed a new alliance, Real Alliance Such Relevance. It started as a gimmick alliance, but eventually developed good relations (thanks in part to several key members of FYAD, specifically Max and Creatnos) with the local Russian alliance, LSH. Baine Reynolds was one of the only active titan pilots in FYAD at the time, and assisted the Russians in fighting some of the German based alliances in Eastern Aridia. Real Alliance gained a few corps, specifically Armored Apocalypse from a friend of Maulths, Zerk. Eventually, Maulth had to leave the game for a bit, passing leadership of the alliance to Zerk. FYAD went into a bit of a lul at this time, and eventually external pressures and bad luck forced Zerk to close the doors.

During this time, FYAD returned to highsec and wandered around a bit, settling on war dec’ing for content. They fought against Brave and a few other bigger alliances, but it was mostly an unfair turkey shoot. FYAD got a ton of kills under its belt without any significant losses to speak of, and took to making money for a few months. We jumped into Archeage and a few other games, picking up people such as DthAngel, Cossit, and Knarf (by proxy).

In July of 2015, Maulth reached out in search of another alliance. Hoping to find something that would reinvigorate everyone, he stumbled upon a small alliance based in Tenerifis named Empyreus. They were tiny, and seemed to be somewhat pets, from the outside. Originally responding to conversations from Ellegos1, Maulth and Piranhas jumped into their teamspeak to chat with them. After listening to Abinus Sertan, the alliance Exec, Fletcher Wolfe, Ellegos, and a few of the others, Maulth and Piranhas were sold and joined almost immediately. Empyreus proved to be a great decision as Abinus was stellar if a little inexperienced, leader. Abinus reminded many of the FYAD guys of a younger Montolio, someone whom they had deep respect for. During the next few months, Empyreus proved their strength in Tenerifis, hitting far above their weight class. This was thanks in part to Abinus’s abilities as an FC, as well as the dedication from members like Fletcher Wolfe and Sorcha Majir to aggressively pursue things that benefited the alliance. However, Sorcha was carrying a massive financial burden on behalf of the alliance. Eventually, this led to quite a few heated discussions about financial oversight, and the alliance went through some leadership turmoil.

During this time, Against All Authorities had split into two different entities. INFAMOUS and -A-. Abinus had been targeting -A- assets in nearby Catch, capturing a handful of money moons. With a revitalized player base, however, and a now sundered BRAVE, INFAMOUS gained quite a few new members, being able to deploy even numbers against PYRE. During this time, PYRE and INFAMOUS had a ton of fights, and content was flowing. But, SOVIET UNION, seeing the fun, decided to instead invade Tenerifis. This effectively ended PYRE’s tenure in the region as GCLUB, their closest ally, was eventually overrun by SU and it’s coalition. During this time, Maulth had been looking for alternatives for livable space. FYAD has spent a majority of its lifetime in Fountain, and with the recent total collapse of Black Legion, and the semi-reformation under the banner of The-Culture, a large chunk of Fountain had opened up. In a somewhat heated leadership meeting, Abinus pitched the idea of Fountain to Alliance Command. There was a lot of discussion, but it was eventually decided that Fountain was as good a choice as any. Abinus and Ribor presented the idea to the rest of the alliance. FYAD, to a man, was onboard. However, a few people and a corp decided to leave the alliance entirely rather than give Fountain a shot. Ironically, most of the people that left wound up living next door in Delve. So Empyreus moved to Fountain.

During PYRE’s stay in Fountain, they took the Mermaid constellation, constantly fighting with the inhabitants of NPC Fountain, though they were no real threat by themselves. It was during this time that FYAD was the most active in years, putting quite a few members in fleet.  Things began to look up for PYRE as they took several nearby money moons, shored up the ADM’s under the new Aegis sov, and gained a staunch ally in the ex-TEST corporation Star Frontiers. SF created their own alliance, Brotherhood of Spacers. They began taking moons and sov outside of the Mermaid pocket. Eventually, this drew the attention of The-Culture, who began reaching out to take moons West of the KVN- divide. During this time, a disgruntled corp CEO defected his corporation to The Culture. Things were a bit shaky but still manageable. However, Abinus received some shocking news IRL and had to immediately forfeit his time earmarked for Eve. Unfortunately, this led to him asking either Sorcha or Maulth if they would rather take over the alliance, or shut it down. They decided to shut the alliance down on a good note. Stef Darklighter was named interim CEO, but the alliance wound up dwindling away, quite a few of the active and talented members such as Jedi and Bosswoman joining Star Frontiers. A lot of people from PYRE kept in touch with the members of FYAD, such as the corp MENFI, but FYAD essentially went into stasis. Maulth was extremely burned out, and it was nearing Spring anyway, a historically dead period in Eve corporations.


During this period, we moved into a wormhole (C4 Pulsar with a static C4, static C3) and began enjoying the benefits of living out of a POS with the Citadel expansion very close on the horizon. We found our love in Pulsar Rattlesnakes (they’re fantastic) and the really solid amount of ISK you can make in a C4<->C4 home. After the release of Citadels in Eves Citadel expansion, we waited nearly a week and bought an Astrahaus way under value on the Jita market. Due to my excitement, I threw caution to the wind and began anchoring the Astra in our wormhole (which had been exceedingly quiet up to that point). Unfortunately for us, within a few hours, Lazerhawks had found the anchoring Citadel and began rage-rolling the hole to get their guys in. At this time we were only about 12 strong in the wormhole, still staging out of our POS. They managed to maintain hole control for over 12 hours and trucked in a ton of T3’s and other ships, batphoning friends along the way. As the timer ticked down, and with many of us multiboxing, we had a total of 18 pilots in the fleet, all in RR Rattlesnakes. However, once we got eyes on the enemies ships, we stood down. All-in-all they had brought over 40 people in a mix of battleships and t3’s. This chain of events would lead to the first citadel lost in Wormhole space, and two entertaining Reddit threads. One where I did a tongue-in-cheek AMA, and the other a follow-up promise of making a pizza for Lazerhawks (I ran a restaurant at this time) due to the Citadel bugging during the fight (A lazerhawks pilot had used one of the newly introduced MJD Destroyers to try and MJD the citadel, causing the timer to bug out and the structure to remain invulnerable). We lost our Astrahaus but kept moving forward. A week later, after the hype had died down and a solemn promise from Lazerhawks to not kill the fresh Astra I was anchoring due to our good sportsmanship, the new “Fortress FYAD” anchored in our wormhole. From there, we made a lot of ISK and had fun messing around in Wormhole space, Abinus coming back for a fleet or two to lose a Tengu to neutrals. Eventually, however, we felt the drain of limited content and quiet isk-making. Things went quiet on most fronts, and we reconsidered what to do next with full wallets.

Over that particular stasis, Maulth had been planning FYAD’s reemergence into Eve null-sec, staging Citadels and mentally reorganizing the corporation. In November of 2016, Abinus, now with a little free time, approached Maulth about shaking off the dust and playing Eve again, and their plans were put into motion. FYAD moved to a highsec system named Litiura, close to Jita. Piranhas had provided quite a few engineering complexes for FYAD to utilize, and FYAD proper anchored a few Astrahaus. We began roaming out from Litiura into nearby lowsec, and eventually into Pure Blind and Vale of the Silent, getting dropped on repeatedly by PL/NC. in a post-WWB world.

But nullsec had been our home for years, and adapting to highsec/lowsec mechanics was taking a toll, as well as content. The foray into wormhole life had been a nice change of pace, but we were ready to head back to null. Abinus began talking to old friends of his from the now-defunct Gentleman’s Club, and eventually, we were offered a spot to come hang out with an alliance named Re-Forged in Wicked Creek. I personally had never spent much time in the East, and was a little unsure as the politics around there had always been a bit tumultuous, but we went for it, being offered to live in the RF9 constellation of Re-Forged space.

Initially, Re-Forged were a bit unsure of us as Empyreus seemed untested, but we quickly made up over half of their defense fleets. We primarily ran hurricane (shield) doctrines, and at this point we picked up great dudes like Deworen, Raistin, Click’r, Tracen, Nica’demus, Fehnrail, Mhorre, Khamez, Peri Stark, Nex and many others. Our experience from Tenerifis with Aegis sov made us a very valuable asset as Re-forged wasn’t really great on the particulars. Re-Forged, wanting the constellation between Wicked Creek and Scalding Pass, went to war with “Everybody Lies”, a primarily Russian timezone group. After a few foiled attempts, some fights, tensions in Re-forged leadership became pretty strained. Eventually, some underhandedness from an “ally” of theirs, Stella Nova, and their attempted claim on the pocket, led to more infighting in Re-Forged leadership. Jason Varl, acting Executor of the alliance eventually notified us that he believed the situation unrecoverable as several of the corporations and personalities involved now loathed each other. Re-Forged shut down shortly after, the two main corps transition to join Triumvirate as TRI was looking South to hit the fledgling Phoenix Federation, as well as the eviction of Fraternity. Meetings with Sariah and a shared channel for Wicked Creek residents showed that Captain Patrick Archer (the main FC in Triumvirate, and one of the “Three Pillars” that made up the alliances leadership) very much wanted to remove Fraternity from the area in a combination of reprisal for them taking towers during TRI’s deployment to the North and a fear of the mass migration from Serenity (the Chinese server). This eventually came to nothing as TRI couldn’t form in the appropriate timezone and was impotent as a result.

Empyreus was suddenly and abruptly thrust with the task of taking over and maintaining the Re-Forged space, including inheriting the war that they had begun with Everybody Lies. We took over the 5Y1E constellation and made our new home in M-MBRT. The game was exciting. DthAngel, the head diplo since moving in with Re-Forged, began reaching out and establishing good relationships with other regional residents, and local power, Manifesto. Manifesto was technically a council-based alliance, though realistically we viewed Sean Blair as the leader. Through many conversations, Empyreus wound up blue to Manifesto, and eventually their “friends” in The Basterd Cartel. Another alliance, Lost and Found, approached us about merging their corporations into our alliance. I have never been a fan of mergers, but we did need to bolster our numbers a bit, and this seemed as good a route as any. The former leader of Lost and Found, Kurt Kainen, lasted about a month in the alliance before being asked to get out. I won’t go into his character faults, but he brazenly bragged about his former RMT and subsequent bans, and that’s something we weren’t comfortable with. His former corporations elected to stay with us.

During this time we had some inexperienced people feed a lot of ships, and we wound up becoming daily destinations for blops, roaming gangs, and wormholers. Eventually most of the guys either left or burned-out, and I actually rage-kicked a corporation; the first time I had EVER done that. One of the corporations that had merged with Kurt Kainen, Misfits Inc, were suffering from a sorely inept leadership. Before joining, they were warned that we had highsec trade-hub campers war deccing us. They proceeded to lose a corp-owned Orca with several billion worth of assets in it, and then blamed us for not helping save it in highsec. Things only got worse from there. Eventually, as Rorqual mining took the crown for PvE in Eve, their CEO elected to get himself into one, without a PANIC module. He was warned that if he didn’t have a PANIC, we couldn’t save him. One night I pinged for one of my signature insta-thrasher fleets, and we began free-burning to Catch (home of Brave) where we knew we could get a good fight. About 15 jumps into the route, Misfits pinged for assistance because their sieged Rorqual was tackled. I turned the fleet around, but we didn’t make it 5 jumps before it died. One of their directors went on a rage-bender about how I needed to cap fleets at 15 people and leave the rest home to defend the miners. In this conversation he also accused me of scamming his corporation out of a Rorqual, and a slew of other insults, which was insane as I had personally provided all the ISK for our sov upgrades, Fortizar, and other stuff (with the help of a few key DYVN members who built the stuff really cheaply). Initially, I had given misfits 72 hours to either asset safety or jump out their assets as I didn’t believe they should be in a sov-holding alliance, and instead in a rental group, offering to do so with my Jump Freighter. However, as the conversation dragged on, and the insults continued to fly my way, I kicked them from the alliance, set them light blue, and told them they had 48 hours before the standings dropped.

Over the next few months, several people moved into the area, including new Vanguard Coalition residents. Jason Varl, our old friend from Re-forged had approached us about joining VG coalition as well. We were not particularly keen on the idea of joining this coalition as we had seen first-hand how they treated their allies, and the conversations surrounding other entities such as Bright Side of Death, Manifesto, Among the Stars, and Fraternity. About the same time, the newly formed Phoenix Federation, ran by Fidelas Constans, approached us about joining. We initially said no. Their space was nowhere near ours, spanning most of Immensea, and left us the one entity alone in a region full of a hostile coalition (Vanguard). Tensions between Phoenix Federation and Vanguard had been heating up. Triumvirate, and their allies, had repeatedly violated their agreements with Phoenix Federation, testing where they would draw the line in the sand, and we had no intention of getting involved with that. A few weeks after their initial contact, they were still trying to woo us. We still had no intention of joining a coalition, one of the reasons we came to Wicked Creek was to stay away from the Bloc Warfare and blobs, but we were tipped off by two different friends in Triumvirate that TRI was looking to evict us from our constellation to install new VG residents, WOMBO. This irritated us as TRI had recently been going on this Reddit tirade of “Helping break up the blue donut” and “Defending the little guy”. Naturally, this soured relationships enough with TRI that we had no interest in ever joining Vanguard. So, seeing no option, we joined Phoenix Federation. This wasn’t to say we did this as a last resort, the coalition leadership had actually been incredibly nice to us. We liked the way that they ran things, from the outside, even though we could tell there was quite a bit of inexperience on the coalition level. But, we wrote it off as the growing pains of a newly formed coalition.

We were now protected by the NIP between Phoenix Federation and Vanguard, or so we thought. TRI didn’t actually care about the agreements, and WOMBO began hitting towers and assets in the area before PFED and DRF diplomats were brought in to deal with the aggression. Knowing that we were the guys that just taddled on the kid who fancied himself the big bully in the sandbox, we started looking for other options. Eventually, we opted for approaching PFED command with a space trade. Our pocket in Wicked Creek for some of Triumvirates sov in Detorid, specifically one of the pockets bordering Immensea, the home region of PFED. We initially wanted either 4SRW or HOV-. Despite apparently attempting to offload space onto their Vanguard compatriots, TRI vehemently refused us the 4SRW pocket, stating a tactical need for that space. This made us nervous, and we voiced our concerns to PFED leadership. This gave TRI, a group notorious for ignoring and breaking agreements, a potential staging point on the doorstep of PFED sovereignty, and within jump-range of the PFED member alliances. We were assured that TRI wouldn’t be a problem much longer as they were members of the DRF, and we (PFED) would likely be DRF members soon as well. So, instead, we wound up with the HOV- pocket. As we began moving, rebuilding, and investing in our new space, we grew more and more uneasy. TRI had begun anchoring Citadels in PFED core space, Immensea, claiming it was for Good Fights. When one of these structures invariably slipped through the cracks of the fledgling PFED intel network, TRI began Blopsing out of them. This eventually culminated in about a week span of TRI officially leaving the DRF, and then immediately declaring war PFED, who was the newest member of the DRF.

The next few months are some of the most baffling I’ve played in this game. While we started out with high hopes for the coalition, it became apparent very fast that years of Goonswarm being at the head of the CFC had left FCON with little in organizational skill or military prowess. While on paper they had numbers, they couldn’t stop from in-fighting, rapid doctrine changes to almost no effect, and just poor decision making on the whole. Meanwhile, TRI was lean, fast, and nimble. Over the span of a few weeks, the conflict (though no sov had swaped hands yet) drew the attention of Pandemic Legion, and a worm-tongued Fraternity. The same entity that had recently attempted an eviction of Fraternity was now declared their BFF. With the absolute morale breaking ability that PL possesses, things looked rather bad. I elected to allow PYRE space to burn rather than burning the coalition out defending space a region away. My hope was for us to regroup and present a stronger front in Immensea.

PL, Adversity naturally at the lead, camped the pipe that lead to the PFED capital of 4-GB. They began hitting jump bridges, camping with TRI, and anchoring citadels everywhere. It was, I think, at this point that most of the leadership in PFED called it quits without letting anyone know. Morale hit all new lows, and alliances began evacuating. I ordered PYRE to pack light, only keep doctrines in 4-GB. My disposition grew incredibly sour towards PFED member alliances as I felt like they squandered every opportunity they had to better themselves and bring the coalition on par with TRI. Our dreads were almost 3x the cost of TRI’s, with a spotty track record for SRP (I blame this entirely on coalition member that handled the Dread SRP, though, not FCON).  We were using artillery Abbadons, a knee-jerk reaction to the change in Machariel and faction Battleship blueprint drop rates. We couldn’t compete with subpar fleet comps against a better-armed enemy at our gates. Eventually, FYAD and PYRE pilots stopped showing up to fleets. I bittered out very hard at PFED. Eventually, FCON threw in the towel and the remaining alliances either disbanded or left for greener pastures. Several alliances staged a coup, flipped PFED sov in Tenerifis, and declared themselves independent. After a several long discussions, I elected to put PYRE on ice. The combat pilots mostly joined FYAD, and we joined a new alliance. Requiem Eternal.

Rather than go into any kind of conversation about why I think REQ was a terrible choice, I’ll just say we were there for about 45 minutes before we decided it was a bad move. Could I have been more patient and understanding? Probably. I’ll fully admit I was burnt out and looking for a soft landing after the meat grinder of the TRI-PFED war. But the ego, shit-talking of member corporations, and ratting drama in the first 45 minutes immediately made me go “Nope”, in tandem with the fact that they were a full legacy member but had zero tech infrastructure. They manually assigned permissions in Discord, Teamspeak, etc. Our very first fleet made it obvious they were not a good fit.

So we left, with someone electing to make a Reddit thread about the incident. Typically, that is not the way I would have handled it, but I was very frustrated with their alliance.  I basically spent most of that thread shitting on REQ, and getting a little too caught up in the moment.

After that, we joined our friends in Ops-Elite. During about a 5 month time period, there were only about 5 active pilots. Too many moves had left everyone feeling really burned out, and people started playing other games. Sir Helios, Fehnrail, Weekoldtaco, myself, and Mack Yacken were really the only active ones. There were a lot of good fights while with Ops-Elite, but unfortunately, they ultimately lacked a real goal outside of increasing numbers to get good fights. While the content was fun, it’s not the kind of thing a lot of people sub to Eve for. In the end, the suggestion was made that all of the Great Wildlands Conservation Society alliances boil down into one or two corps and join a brand new alliance. This would effectively mean killing FYAD and its history, something I am not willing to do. While I personally do not beleive this decision will work out long-term for them as the culture from alliance-to-alliance is very different in the coalition, among other reasons, I wish them the best.

As of this writing, (5/21/18) FYAD is restaging to Litiura again to begin the next leg of our journey.
